In the EasyFlexibility System we NEVER hold a stretch for the purpose of getting flexible, we use unique techniques called ZST's (Zaichik Stretching Technique)

The goal of any stretch
regardless if it's the passive relaxed stretch or dynamic stretch or ZST, is to increase functional muscle length.

A standard stretching technique like in yoga and dance waits out the stretch reflex. In other words, the idea is to hold the stretch long enough where the muscle will finally let go and stretch a little bit further.

The problem with holding a stretch passively is that the nervous system gets uncomfortable and begins to fight the lengthening of the muscle.
With the Zaichik Stretching Technique, you get deeper into the stretch right away by doing the specific Target – Leverage micro movements. So, you achieve the goal a lot faster.

If you try to hold a stretch after ZST’s it will be counterproductive because your body will realize that the muscle length has increased and will begin to resist the lengthening.

The point of ZST’s is that the body does not realize that the muscle is being stretched because of the Target-Leverage micro movements. Allowing you to safely lengthen the muscle, bypassing the painful stretch reflex.

Each ZST technique isolates each muscles actions one by one to make sure they are doing their job, helping muscles that are tighter first, resulting in a pain free, effective and joyful experience.

Each ZST has two components called Target and Leverage. These are two different movements which target the same muscle.
  • Leverage: A leverage is the first of two movements in each of the ZST's. When Leverage moves it creates temporary space for the Target to move into when the Leverage retreats to the starting position. Leverage should be quick, but not explosive. The leverage should not be held but done quickly. It should take only a few seconds to do each movement.
  • Target: Target is the second of two movements in each of the ZST's.
In the following ZST called ~Content~ we are targeting the Medial Hamstrings, Semitendinosus and Semimembranosus.

Starting Position

  • Lie down on the side
  • Bring the leg up
  • Grab the foot or the ankle
  • Bend the knee slightly to begin with

First Leverage

  • Extend your leg

First Target

  • Come back and pull over

Second Leverage

  • When you get to the first target do not move your leg back to the starting position, keep it where you got to and start from that angle. Now again extend your leg.

Second Target

  • Come back and pull over

Third Leverage

  • When you get to the second target do not move your leg back to the starting position, keep it where you got to and start from that angle. Now again extend your leg.

Third Target

  • Come back and pull over

Let's dive a bit deeper into the reasons. Even when you get flexible with Zaichik Stretching Techniques, you want to retain that flexibility for the next training session. Retaining flexibility is a huge component of any of the EasyFlexibility programs.

Retaining splits flexibility has always been a big challenge and it has been a big issue for many people whom we were testing in various research studies that we did.

While Zaichik Stretching Techniques allow for very quick flexibility gains, retention exercises which are part of the EasyFlexibility programs are just as important. If someone is only doing the ZST’s without the supporting retention exercises the flexibility gained will not be retained for the next session. This is why we have developed proprietary supporting exercises to help you not only quickly gain flexibility but retain it as well.

To get fast progress you need to start a little bit more flexible at the start of each session and end up a little bit more flexible than you did in the previous session, then you get fast results.

Most muscles are very flexibility resistant!

If you do stretching exercises that lengthen your hamstrings, for example, and then sit down for a long period of time, or stand for a long period of time you will lose the flexibility gained! What will happen is your hamstrings will shorten at the knee or at the hip due to prolonged sitting or standing.

To prevent that from happening the body has to use the flexibility it has gotten in the training session. Movement and Habituation Techniques together with strength techniques such as Extended Length Conditioning and Short Range Conditioning Techniques help to retain flexibility gained.

These techniques teach your body to accept new ranges of flexibility by sending a message that the new range is now normal for the body. They tell your body that “this is your new range. You are comfortable in this new length. It is not just something you get after stretching, but you can actually operate in it.”

These techniques allow your body to understand this. And the range of motion becomes new active range of motion. New deeper range of motion, in which the body can move.

Starting Positon

  • Get into the frog position by brining your knees out as wide as possible.
  • From this position you're going to be lifting legs alternating sides.

Step 1

  • Bring one leg up, hold for a few seconds

Step 2

  • Place it back down and bring your hips a little bit closer to the floor

Step 3

  • Lift the other leg, hold it for a few seconds

Step 4

  • Place it back down and bring your hips a little bit closer to the floor.
  • Continue to do this exercise for a few repetitions.
